The Society of Empowered Education Students (SEEDS) conducted “Battle of the Brains ‘09” last September 17, at the NCBA Mini Theater.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Ms. Geraldine Alday, head of Liturgical Committee, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem conducted by Ms. Jennifer Baldonado. It was formally opened with an inspirational message from Professor Zaida Vidal, Liberal Arts Area Chairman. Quiz bee masters Ms. Sharmaine Lauron, Assistant Secretary of SEEDS, and Ms. Monique Dooma, started the contest proper.
The judges were Mrs. Corina Perez, Natural Science instructor and Professor Arsenio Macaspac, Assistant Adviser of ALAS (Association of Liberal Arts Students). Each team was composed of three participants representing their respective courses. The competition was categorized into three: easy, average, and difficult round. Among the twelve teams who competed, only the top three teams who received the highest scores were declared as winners. 1st Place: Arvin Valdez, Sheena Mercy Sarmiento, and Jamaine Bayadog (ALAS Team); 2nd Place: Noelie Tagle, Ivan Roger Recede and Jonathan Layugan II (BSA Team); 3rd Place: Jessica Aldovino , Arby Mata, and Liezl Salamanca (BSA Team). The event lasted for almost two hours and ended with a dance number from selected accounting and education students and a cake raffle.
